BIOTOOL-CHF | Project overview

BIOTOOL-CHF is a European research project focused on improving the management of chronic heart failure, a condition that affects millions of people across Europe and represents one of the leading causes of hospitalisation among adults. Many patients experience worsening symptoms due to fluid congestion, which is often difficult to detect accurately with current clinical tools. The project aims to develop innovative solutions that combine biomarkers, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to better identify congestion and support clinicians in choosing the most appropriate treatment strategies. By improving how congestion is monitored and managed, BIOTOOL-CHF seeks to contribute to more personalised care, better quality of life for patients, and a reduction in hospital readmissions.

Purpose of the survey

As part of the BIOTOOL-CHF project, the Italian Association of Heart Failure Patients (AISC) has developed this survey to better understand the experiences and perspectives of people living with heart failure. The questionnaire collects information about patients’ daily lives, their interactions with healthcare systems, and how the disease affects their wellbeing and quality of life. The insights gathered will support the BIOTOOL-CHF consortium in refining the design of the clinical study and integrating patient-reported experience into the research protocol. By including the patient perspective, the project aims to ensure that the tools and strategies developed are not only scientifically robust but also aligned with the real needs and expectations of those living with the condition.

Privacy notice

This survey is anonymous and does not collect any personal data that could identify participants. All responses will be used exclusively for research purposes within the BIOTOOL-CHF project and will be analysed in aggregated form. The information collected will help improve the design of the study and better understand the experiences of people living with heart failure, while ensuring full respect for participants’ privacy and confidentiality
